Retired NASCAR legend Greg Biffle, wife Cristina Grossu Biffle, daughter Emma, son Ryder, Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth were the seven victims of Thursdays accident that happened in Statesville North Carolina when their Cessna C550 plane crashed about 10:15 a.m. Dec. 18, according to the official statement. They were all heading to Sarasota Florida to spend the day with Garrett Mitchell (Cleetus McFarland) and then head to the Bahamas for a birthday trip. Just before the crash Cristina texted her mother saying "We're in trouble". According to the online site Flight Aware, which tracks flight paths, the plane departed from Statesville at 10:06 a.m. local time and tried to turn around before the crash.

This is devastating for everyone they knew the Biffle family. Greg and his family along with Garrett Mitchell helped the victims of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina flying people to safety and bring in supplies for the ones who needed help with their personal funds and helicopters.

Greg Biffle was a NASCAR driver who raced full time in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2003 to 2016. He made his Cup Series debut in 2002 as a 32-year-old and returned in 2022 at 52 to race part time in five races. Biffle won 19 NASCAR Cup Series races over 16 years. He also won 20 races in the second-tier series (when they were called the Busch Series and Xfinity Series) and 17 in the Truck Series. Biffle never won a NASCAR Cup Series Championship, finishing in the top-10 of the season standings six times with a runner-up finish in 2005. He did win the 2000 Truck Series championship and the 2002 Busch Series as a driver for Roush Racing.
